lawn care

The city of Cambridge is renowned for many things. Education, technology and of course its beautiful college lawns! These are the product of centuries of care and attention, however the single biggest difference between the average domestic lawn and a college lawn is the mowing regime. College lawns are mown very frequently, but very little leaf is removed from the grass with each cut. The blades of a college mower are kept razor sharp and the direction of mowing is varied. This simple but admittedly time consuming set of practices has a hugely beneficial effect on any lawn or grass area.

Cambridge itself and surrounding villages are very low lying. The City is only 20feet above sea level, this means winter frosts tend to be harsh and long lasting. It is wise to bear this in mind when planning how best to prepare a lawn for winter. Other factors worthy of year round consideration include the predominantly heavy and chalky soil.
